We are excited to announce that A One-Room Schoolhouse is hiring a Classroom Director for our “middles” classroom, which serves students in grades 3rd to 7th. This position has opened up due to a mid-year personnel change caused by unforeseen circumstances, and we’re looking for a dynamic, organized, and passionate individual to join our community. The environment is supportive and loving, with excellent colleagues and parents, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of children while being part of something special.
The position starts immediately, offering competitive pay, unique teacher development benefits, and the opportunity to work within a strong, wide-reaching community. If you’re passionate about education, the outdoors, and living your faith, this could be the perfect fit for you.
Why You Might Be a Schoolhouse Teacher
At A One-Room Schoolhouse, we look for educators who are not only passionate about teaching but also share our core values. If you identify with any of the following, you might just be the perfect person to join our team.
1. You Have Exceptional Organizational Skills
A Schoolhouse teacher thrives on organization. If you get excited about file folders, label makers, and color-coded lesson plans, we’re speaking your language! You know how to structure a classroom environment that runs smoothly, with systems that work for both students and teachers. In fact, if your idea of a great birthday gift is a file cabinet (and yes, I did get one for my 12th birthday!), then you’re probably one of us.
2. You Love the Outdoors
Our schoolhouse teachers don’t shy away from nature, no matter the weather. Whether it’s rain, snow, or sunshine, we believe in the power of outdoor education. If you live by the saying, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing,” you’re in the right place. We value the educational, healing, and life-giving benefits of unstructured time outdoors, and our students spend a significant amount of time learning in nature.
3. You Have a Passion for Faith-Based Education
We’re a faith-centered schoolhouse, and loving Jesus is at the heart of what we do. We don’t mind where you go to church or what version of the Bible you read, but if you live your life with a deep faith and a desire to share it with your students, you’ll feel right at home here. We’re looking for teachers who can incorporate their faith into everyday lessons and live by example.
4. You love The Good and the Beautiful curriculum.
You’ve used it, admire its purpose, and it fits your teaching style and values. Maybe you’re like me and can’t help but buy their newest publications. Perhaps you’ve saved all four versions of Language Arts PDFs on your computer because you’ve been a fan for that long. If you appreciate well-structured, faith-based learning materials, then you might be the perfect fit for our classroom!
Teaching the “Middles” Classroom
Our “middles” classroom consists of students from 3rd to 7th grade, and we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and nurturing learning environment. As the Classroom Director, you’ll have the opportunity to shape these children’s educational experiences and help them grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
You’ll also be working with a team of colleagues and parents who are committed to providing the best possible education for our students. We know that a mid-year personnel change can be challenging, but rest assured that our schoolhouse community has pulled together to make this transition as smooth as possible.
What We Offer
In addition to working with a fantastic group of students and staff, we offer several unique benefits:
- Competitive Pay: We understand the importance of compensating our teachers fairly for their hard work and dedication.
- Professional Development: As part of our team, you’ll have access to ongoing teacher development opportunities. Whether it’s attending conferences, workshops, or collaborating with fellow educators, we believe in helping our teachers grow.
- Supportive Environment: Our community of 11 teachers across four campuses regularly collaborates to support each other. We believe that when teachers work together, they can create the best learning environments for their students.
- Parent Involvement: Our parent community is deeply invested in the success of our school. As a Classroom Director, you’ll have the support of parents who are eager to help and who trust you to provide the best education for their children.
A Unique Opportunity for Homeschool Educators
If you’ve already taken the plunge into homeschooling your own children, this role might be the perfect fit for you. Many of our teachers began as homeschool parents, and they’ve found that teaching a classroom of 15 to 20 students is actually easier than managing the education of just a few! Plus, you’ll be paid for what you’re already doing—teaching children in a way that’s meaningful and effective.
Is This the Right Fit for You?
While we don’t require a teaching credential for this role, experience with homeschooling or teaching is certainly beneficial. Special education experience is also a plus, as it often equips teachers with the tools they need to be flexible and responsive in the classroom.
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to think outside the box, someone who understands that education is more than just state standards and paperwork. If you’ve grown frustrated with the limitations of traditional education and you’re looking for a way to take back the joy of teaching, A One-Room Schoolhouse could be the perfect place for you.

Final Thoughts
