We are thrilled to introduce our three newest schoolhouse teachers who have joined our community this year. We are confident that they will bring valuable skills and experiences to our learning community, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact they will have on our students.
Kaitlyn Gorniak, North Campus
We are excited to introduce you to our new north campus teacher, Kaitlyn Gorniak, who will join us this year. Mrs. Gorniak is a certified teacher in K-12 Special Education and K-6 Elementary Education, with a wealth of experience working with children who have multiple disabilities.
Mrs. Gorniak is a dedicated teacher who believes every child has a unique purpose and can thrive with the proper support. She has spent most of her career working with children who have multiple disabilities and has a deep understanding of the challenges that these students face. Mrs. Gorniak is committed to providing a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where all students can learn and grow.
In her spare time, Mrs. Gorniak loves to host parties, dream about family beach vacations and spend time outside with her own children. She is excited to bring her passion for teaching to the A One-Room Schoolhouse community and to create a positive and engaging learning experience.
We are also excited to announce that Mrs. Gorniak will be opening a new classroom at our north campus in the fall. We believe that her dedication to teaching, combined with her expertise in working with students with multiple disabilities, will be an asset to our school community.
Carla Shearer, East Campus
We are excited to introduce you to Carla Shearer, our new teacher for the east campus. Mrs. Shearer brings with her a wealth of professional experience and a passion for education and child development.
Mrs. Shearer has worked in various roles throughout her career, including as a therapist and clinical supervisor in the wraparound field, as well as a guidance counselor at an emotional support school. She holds a master’s degree in School Counseling K-12 and has been using these skills for the past decade working privately as a nanny. During her time as a nanny, Mrs. Shearer enjoyed taking the children on many outings, creating individualized educational activities and helping them build self-confidence.
Mrs. Shearer is excited to join A One-Room Schoolhouse at our newest location and bring her expertise to our community. She is also a mother of a young girl who will be attending A One-Room Schoolhouse in the fall, which further solidifies her commitment to providing a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment for all students.
In addition to her professional qualifications, Mrs. Shearer has a passion for the outdoors and educating children. She volunteers in the nursery at her church and has created a local Facebook group that hosts in-person, child-led nature hikes at surrounding area parks. Mrs. Shearer believes that learning is not limited to a traditional classroom setting, and she is excited to incorporate this philosophy into her teaching approach.
Nicole Bull, South Campus
We are excited to introduce Nicole Bull, a creative and hardworking teacher with 15 years of experience in mentoring and teaching children of all ability levels in a variety of learning settings including homeschool co-ops, Outschool and public school. Nicole is a graduate of Grove City College and Waynesburg College and holds teaching credentials in both elementary education and special education.
Mrs. Bull has a heart for showing Christ’s love to each student and instilling a passion for learning through a Christian worldview. She is organized, reliable, empathetic, and motivated to continue learning and growing as an individual and professional.
In addition to her experience as a teacher, Mrs. Bull has been a member and leader at a local homeschool cooperative for the past seven years as she homeschooled her own three children. She also enjoys making crafts with paper products and creating custom dessert tables and party decor.
We are thrilled to have Mrs. Bull join our community at A One-Room Schoolhouse and continue to serve students at our south campus.
Live Event!
These new teachers and I will be going LIVE from the Schoolhouse Facebook page at 8 pm on April 8, 2023. Our education director will interview each teacher so you can get to know each of them. We will also allow plenty of time to respond to your questions. The video of this event will be pinned to the top of our Facebook page if you can’t join us at that time. We look forward to “seeing” you at the live event.
